Business Administration
The programme offers courses leading to the award of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, which may be awarded with honours or a third class. Degree. The courses are designed to give students a clear understanding of basic and advanced concepts in industrial relations and personnel management, an exposure to the practices of the field during the internship period and methodology with their applications in the analyses and understanding of the contemporary world of work.
Graduates of the programme can conveniently secure employment in both the Public and Private sectors, Commercial Organizations, Consultancy Firms, Audit Firms, Non-governmental Organizations, Armed Forces, Security Outfits, Para-military Institutions, Academics and Research Institutions.
The programme aims to produce skilled graduates knowledgeable in the manpower needs and utilization in the industries and commercial organizations. Other objectives include:
- Graduates of the programme should be able to apply the understanding of the field to the manpower needs of both public and private organizations,
- equipped with the required skills, knowledge, abilities and attitudes to manage human and other relevant resources toward the actualization of organizational goals and survival.
- Apply the skills, knowledge, abilities, attitudes, capabilities and competences in the production of goods and services, efficient and effective management of all resources in the work system and contribute meaningfully towards the survival of organisations and society at large.
(i) UTME
(a) Candidates must have obtained Five (5) Credit passes at not more than two sitting in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Economics at SSCE, NECO and GCE Ordinary Level.
(b) Candidates are expected to take English Language, Economics and two other subjects at the UTME.
(ii) Direct Entry
In addition to the ordinary level requirements above, candidates for admission should possess Ordinary National Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, with a minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division in relevant programmes.
(iii) Programme Duration
The programme offers a four (4) year study for candidates admitted through the UTME and a three (3) year study for candidates admitted through Direct Entry leading to the award of a degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management.
