Following the announcement of the Federal Government, Mountain Top University has approved that the University should proceed on break from 25th to 28th March, 2016 to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively. The Mountain Top University has elected to adopt the nomenclature "College" rather than "Faculty" as practised in contemporary universities abroad as well as the newly established ones in Nigeria. At full capacity, MTU will have at least six (6) Undergraduate Colleges and a Postgraduate School.

The College will run programmes in physical, chemical, mathematical and biological sciences. Apart from running courses leading to the award of degrees, the various departments will also service other science-based colleges.
