Asekunowo, Patrick O. is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Sciences. He received his B.Sc from the University of Ibadan and M.Sc from the University of Lagos. He then completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Science, Malaysia (USM). His work was recognized with the 2014 Arthur E. Martell Early Career Researcher Author’s Prize award for his contribution to the field of Bioorganometallic Chemistry. From 2015 to 2016, he completed a postdoctoral work at the University of Science, Malaysia. During his doctoral studies, he worked on the transition metal chemistry of ligands having heterocyclic carbene coordination modules, focusing on silver and palladium. His research interests include synthetic chemistry ranging from organometallic chemistry, screening the synthesized compound as antimicrobial, antimalarial, anti-dengue and anticancer agents, to catalysis design.
